They were all able to choose qualities they admire in the Queen and give thanks for who she is. Celebration and thankfulness are very important values to us here at St Matthew’s. I am very proud of what they have produced and how these prayers are now able to be used by others throughout the country.’Mary Hawes the CofE’s National Children’s Adviser said: “The Diamond Jubilee prayers of the children from St Matthew’s have caught people’s imagination. They are being used in schools and churches across the country – and beyond! I have received a lot feedback about the prayer by a little girl called Miracle (below) – it seems to really go to the heart of the celebrations.”Dear Almighty God and giver of life.We thank you for blessing our Queen with long life.We pray that you continue to strengthen her as only you are able to doso that she may continue to reign with love and compassion. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.Amen.More Diamond Jubilee information from the CofE here. Xavi spies Barcelona move – ‘or Man City, Chelsea’by Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveBarcelona great Xavi admits he’d like to coach in England.Xavi has taken his first steps into management with Al Sadd in Qatar, the club he spent his final four years with as a player. He told Sky Sports: “I don’t hide it, my goal is to return to Europe and return to Barca, it is my challenge ahead, but I’m still learning in this project and I’m also enjoying it.”My idea, which also happened to me as a footballer, is to be in Barcelona.”Training this type of team would be a privilege and the greatest privilege for me would be to return to Barca.”Although a return to the Catalan club is the target, Xavi has not ruled out a managerial role in the Premier League should an opportunity arise. He added: “That is my goal, but obviously, who doesn’t like the Premier League? The football atmosphere, the packed stadiums and the people who play in the Premier League say it’s extraordinary.”Obviously if I had to choose, I would choose a big team, [Manchester] City or United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham.”Also, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Mauricio] Pochettino and Unai Emery, many people who have gone there are doing an extraordinary job.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
AUBURN, AL – SEPTEMBER 03: Deshaun Watson #4 of the Clemson Tigers reacts during the second half against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan Hare Stadium on September 3, 2016 in Auburn, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)The start of college football season is just 50 days away, and this fan’s highlight video for Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson will get you ready for the upcoming action.Fan IPTAY SAB’s video highlights Watson’s 2015 historic season. Check it out:Watson had a spectacular 2015 campaign, winning 14 games and leading his team to the 2016 College Football Playoff national title game. The quarterback had a historic performance throughout the season, setting the record for most total yards in national championship game history, with 478 yards against Alabama, the nation’s top defense. He threw for over 4,000 yards and rushed for another thousand yards on the ground as a true sophomore; Watson remains the only player to ever accomplish this in the history of college football. In 2015 Watson was named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, the first time a Clemson player has been invited to the Heisman Trophy Presentation. He then won the Davey O’Brien Award, which is awarded annually to the best college quarterback, as well as the 2015 ACC Player of the Year and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year awards.
LONDON – The remnants of Hurricane Ophelia slammed into Ireland with wind gusts of up to 80 mph (130 kph) on Monday, killing at least three people, grounding planes, shutting schools and causing widespread power outages.Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar urged people to stay indoors until the storm passed. Tens of thousands of homes were without power and the military was placed on standby. Some hurricane-force gusts were reported 30 years to the day after a weather event dubbed the “Great Storm of 1987” battered southern England.“It is a very dangerous storm,” Varadkar said. “The last time there was a storm this severe, 11 lives were lost,” he added, referring to Hurricane Debbie, which hit Ireland in 1961.Although Ophelia has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, Ireland’s National Emergency Coordination Group on Severe Weather warned that the storm is still “unprecedented, with serious life-threatening conditions.”Ireland’s weather service, Met Eireann, described the storm as the most powerful on record to have ever been this far east in the Atlantic.Forecasters warned of flying debris, such as tiles blown from roofs. Large waves around coastal districts tossed sand and rocks onto coastal roads, seafronts and properties.Wind warnings were in place for Northern Ireland, parts of Wales and western parts of England. Planes were grounded at several locations in the British Isles. Some 130 flights were cancelled at Dublin Airport, while flights were also grounded at Manchester Airport. Both Ryanair and Easy Jet cancelled flights at Belfast International Airport, with more cancellations expected. Several flights to British airports were also diverted because of unusual odours on board thought to be associated with the remnants of the storm.Authorities warned anyone with travel plans to contact their airline. In parts of the United Kingdom and in France’s Brittany region, the sky turned an eerie colour as Ophelia’s winds carried a mix of sand from the Sahara and particles from forest fires in Spain and Portugal. On social media, people posted pictures of London landmarks against yellow-orange skies.A non-profit group that provides lifesaving services around the British Isles warned people to stay away from seas and beaches.Matt Crofts, lifesaving manager for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, said coastal waters are “particularly dangerous and unpredictable, with large waves and swells being a major risk.”As tempting as it is to watch crashing surf, it isn’t worth the risk of being struck by large waves that can easily knock weather watchers off their feet, Crofts said.“The sea is far more powerful than you think and your chances of survival are slim if you are dragged into the swell,” he said. And there is more to come Tuesday. Flights and ferries were cancelled in parts of Scotland, and authorities warned of coastal flooding in the southwest. The government of Ireland said schools and colleges would remain closed, and Northern Ireland’s Education Authority said the same.As the storm moved toward Northern Ireland, workers sealed off the Peace Bridge in Londonderry with tape and sandbags, closing it as a precautionary measure.
Mumbai: After the controversial episode of “Koffee With Karan” featuring cricketers Hardik Pandya and K.L. Rahul, their colleague Ravichandran Ashwin has now shown interest in being a guest on the popular celebrity chat show hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar. On Friday, Ashwin did a #AskAsh session on Instagram where he replied to questions from his fans. During the Q and A session, when a fan asked him if would like to go to “Koffee with Karan”, he said: “Sure”. Pandya and Rahul faced a lot of flak for their comments on women when they opened up on their personal life on the latest season of the chat show, which has had guests such as actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. Apart from receiving flak on social media, Pandya and Rahul were asked to go home from the three-ODI series against Australia in January after being suspended. Karan later said he felt “very responsible” about the repercussions Pandya and Rahul have faced since they made some misogynistic remarks on his chat show but also said he has no control over answers that come his way. When the filmmaker was asked does he think cricketers are off his list now, he quipped: “I think I am off their list.”
Jaipur: Having continued their superb form at home, Chennai Super Kings will now head to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to take on Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League encounter on Thursday. On paper, CSK are favourites as they sit atop the points table, but then, this game is not played on paper. Having lost their previous game at home against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Royals led by Ajinkya Rahane will look to come back strongly in this encounter against M.S. Dhoni and boys. But firstly, they need to get a hang of the wicket. Having dished out a slow one in the game against KKR, they found themselves in deep trouble and considering CSK’s love for slow turners, another slow wicket will play into the visitors’ hands. Also Read – Puducherry on top after 8-wkt win over ChandigarhIn the batting department as well, too much dependence on Jos Buttler and Rahane at the top needs to go. Even though Steve Smith played a quality knock in the KKR game, his innings was pretty slow and didn’t help the team. Similarly, someone like Ben Stokes needs to be used much higher in the batting order. Considering his destructive nature, he needs to be given enough balls to face. For Chennai, the bowling is a bit of a worry in the absence of the injured Dwayne Bravo, but the others have combined well with Deepak Chahar showing great ability in Tuesday’s match against KKR. While Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir have been equally impressive, it is problem of plenty for Captain Cool MS. In the batting department as well, Chennai need Ambati Rayudu to fire. He has failed to recreate the form that saw him return to the national set-up after the 2018 edition of the IPL. But the determination shown by Faf du Plessis at the top in their last game holds the team in good stead. All in all, the wicket dished out will play a big role in deciding on who will hold the upper hand in this game.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists young midfielder Andreas Pereira has the mental strength to fight for a role at the club. The midfielder has spent the last two years on loan in Spain with Valencia and Granada but looked very impressive during United’s preseason this summer.Mourinho thinks playing in Spain for two years as a loanee for Granada and Valencia has helped“I wasn’t happy that he didn’t play in his best position for Valencia,” he said, according to Daily Mail.“But from a human point of view, I think it was a great experience. He became more of a man, more ready physically and mentally.”Vidic: “Ronaldo is the most professional footballer I’ve seen” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Nemanja Vidic opened up on how a 21-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo’s professionalism left him stunned at Manchester United.“Then it was the question in the Premier League to play him in the position we think is the best, to educate him, to help him understand the position.”“The fact that we had only three midfield players for the pre-season, he had to play all the five matches for 90 minutes which was very good for him.”Mourinho took off the player after 45 minutes against Brighton last weekend with United 3-1 down but Pereira could get another chance against Tottenham on Monday night at Old Trafford.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed he is delighted with Gabriel Jesus despite the striker’s ongoing goal scoring drought. The Spanish manager remains unconcerned by Jesus’ struggles in front of goal, insisting the striker’s all-round contribution to the Premier League champions is crucial. The Brazil international’s winner at Southampton in the final minute of last season ensured City finished with 100 points with the 21-year-old’s campaign scoring 13 goals from 29 league matches. However, the early months of this current campaign has been full of toil for Jesus, who has just one Premier League goal, which came in the 6-1 thrashing of Huddersfield Town back in August, from nine appearances.Seven of those nine appearances have been as a substitute, however, and Guardiola was deeply impressed by the striker’s performance during Thursday’s 2-0 League Cup win over Fulham.Premier League Betting: Match-day 5 Stuart Heath – September 14, 2019 Going into the Premier League’s match-day five with a gap already beginning to form at the top of the league. We will take a…“Of course he needs a goal, the strikers they live for that, but the performance was excellent,” said Guardiola, according to the club’s official website.“A lot of movement without the ball and people don’t realise the help [that gives] to the other guys.“He’s a guy who gave us a lot, but he’s still a young player, he can improve, he can be calmer inside the box, but he has the desire and that’s why he’s extended his contract here for many years.“We’re going to try to help him. I’m so satisfied with the way he’s playing this season, but of course, strikers need a goal to be completely ‘okay, I am there’. But we are in November and many things are going to happen in the future.”
