Howard Lake | 9 May 2012 | News Pennies microdonation service has now raised over £500,000 Microdonations service Pennies has now generated £500,000 for UK charities. The number of microdonations it has handled has doubled in the past six months to two million.Pennies was launched 17 months ago in November 2010, and gives consumers the option to donate a few pence to charity when they shop with a credit or debit card. They can give between 1p and 99p by pressing ‘YES’ on the Chip & PIN machine in-store, or clicking the ‘Donate’ button if shopping online.All the money raised goes to charity with the retailer nominating the charities they want to support with the majority of donations they collect.
