first_imgJERSEY CITY – The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is bringing its 5,500-pound, nearly 11-foot-tall Mars rover concept vehicle to the Liberty Science Center on July 29-30.The “Summer of Mars Experience Tour” will be open to the public on July 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The tour’s centerpiece Mars Rover was commissioned by Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex as a traveling exhibit to inspire and educate the public about space exploration and interplanetary travel.The vehicle was built by Cape Canaveral-based Parker Brothers Concepts, with input from NASA-engineer science and based on NASA-engineer specifications.Currently on its East Coast “Summer of Mars Experience Tour,” the rover was previously in Atlanta and in Washington, D.C. Its final stop will be the Intrepid Air Sea & Space Museum in New York City Aug. 3-6. ×last_img
