first_imgParking in downtown Burlington during the holidays just got a lot easier on weeknights and weekends during the 2010-11 holidays as the city has partnered with the Church Street Marketplace and others to offer free parking on some on-street meters and off-street parking lots.Thanks to participating downtown employers, hundreds of additional parking spaces at downtown parking lots are available free to downtown holiday shoppers starting Saturday, November 27, 2010 through Sunday January 2, 2011.  Hours of availability are Monday through Friday, 6 PM to 10 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM to 10 PM, unless otherwise designated at each location. ‘We welcome the opportunity to provide ample free parking in downtown Burlington for shopping, dining and special events this holiday season.  With the help of our partners, we’ll be able to offer additional free parking this year,’ said Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss. ‘As always during this time of year, the downtown will offer a festive atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.’The City of Burlington will place bright yellow sandwich board signs to guide shoppers to locations where free parking is available.  Employers offering their parking spaces on evenings and weekends during the holidays include State of Vermont, City of Burlington, TD Bank North, Pomerleau Real Estate, Howard Center, Main Street Landing, Chittenden Bank and Grandview Farms. ELMWOOD AVE PARKING LOT, north of the U.S. Post office in downtown Burlington (88 spaces), Weeknights, 6 – 10 pm.; Weekends, 9 am ‘ 10 pmSTATE OF VT.
