first_imgIn October, Angie Menser Lansing, a 1994 graduate of Batesville High School, will be inducted into the Indiana State University Athletic Hall of Fame.  Angie began her running career as a member of Leo Turchyn’s Middle School cross country and track teams.  She then moved up to run for me at the high school level.  She finished her career running for John Garland at Indiana State.Angie was the first female runner I was able to coach who practiced predominantly with the boys cross country team, and at times, did the same as a member of the track team.  She practiced with the boys in order to benefit from the competition that the boys provided.  Besides setting many Batesville records, she also broke several Indiana State records.  Menser was the first girl from Batesville to participate in the Midwest Meet of Champions held every year in June for the best athletes from Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.Angie is currently an assistant athletic director at Indiana State.  I was very privileged to be her high school coach!  Congratulations, Angie!last_img
